Clinical Approach: I have a background in Adlerian therapy approaches to help understand individuals within their social context. According to Adler, when people feel encouraged, they feel capable and appreciated. When this happens, people will feel connected to people around them. When people feel discouraged, they may act in unhealthy ways, such as competing, withdrawing, or giving up. I try to help my clients find healthy ways to express themselves, accepting encouragement, respect, and social interest that helps the client feel fulfilled and optimistic. When people feel valued, significant, and competent, they will find it easier to cope with the difficulties they face in life.
Clinical Interest: I enjoy bringing horses and clients together to help in the therapeutic process. The use of ground activities with the horses and clients require the client to apply certain skills to assist them with non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking, problem solving, leadership, taking responsibility, teamwork, relationships, confidence and attitude. The non-confrontational approach of equine assisted therapy allows the client to come up with the solutions to the problems in their life.
Hobbies: I enjoy spending quality time with my family, friends, horses and dogs. I also enjoy traveling with my family and seeing the amazing world we live in.
